Event Description
Due to explosive population growth around the world, along with rapid development and rampaging consumerism, Contemporary Society is facing major challenges in Waste Management. Moreover, as one the leading generators of waste, it is simultaneously being compelled to explore and adopt more environmentally friendly solutions. These factors have also become increasingly significant in influencing the conscious consumers’ purchasing decisions. On the whole, Waste Management is now one of the major global environmental dilemmas being faced equally, by all developed & developing countries. Sustainable Waste Management is a process focusing on reducing & managing the waste from the sources and it’s a way of thinking that profoundly changes our approaches to resources and production. Seeking to enhance strategic foresight in this domain, the 2016 GCC Waste Management & Recycling Forum(WMRF) will review recent experiences in Sustainable Waste Management, highlight lessons learned and identify critical gaps to be addressed. The event further seeks to explore inter-sectoral partnerships as a means to achieving sustainable waste management systems. |
